My Blind Update
College today was awesome. Didn’t have most of our lectures cuz one of the hostels St.Andrews hosted a Cricket Match for the visually impaired in line with their festival called Sandyquest 2007. The match was awesome, don’t remember who won cuz we were busy playing the game that took most of the crowd away towards the end of the match. This event Real Eyes 2007 as they call it- they blind fold you and you are required to do certain things that would umm how can you put this? …bring you closer to understanding a visually challenged persons life.So they blind fold you and give you the stick that they use to walk around with, you know, the one that you can fold to keep in your purse/pocket. And they lead you through the obstacle course where you are required to get past certain objects like stairs, planks that make you fall for no good reason, rocks and also at the end climb down the scary stairs and feel veggies and fruits. I got a potato that I first called a stone and an orange. Then you have to identify coins and currency and tell the time using a braille watch, this round is called recognition. I sucked here… Then you move on to Emboss cards where you have to tell what letters are pasted together on a piece of paper. Its a word. I got that right. Typing follows ,wherein I rocked totally and got a 10/10 with a WOW from the volunteer. The last one was photography. yay! They spin you around like a bottle and when you stop you have to click the picture in the direction of where you hear a bell go off, also which I got a 10 and the comment. That is a great picture, you are a very good photographer.
Now listen carefully, what I am going to reveal is of the utmost importance of the daily events. As soon as the pretty voice removed my blindfold ( which incidently was the ones they use on the flights to sleep with, and no I did NOT cheat)…removed my blindfold. My eyes opened and I could see one of the most prettiest girls ever. Now I’ve woken up for the past 19 years of my life starting at hospital, home, other varying places but I’ve never opened my eyes to see a pretty face know what I mean? And I’ve tried really really hard to find out who she was but I really cant remember. And for the life of me I do NOT know why I am obsessed with that pretty face. I went there less than a million times and I still cant figure out who she is for certain. The closest I got was ” her name is shweta and she is ty.” Ty what? TyBmm, TyBa,TyBsc. It could be anything.
I can’t contain myself until I figure who she is or until I convince myself she wasn’t pretty enough. Oh and she was the one who commented that I got a great score 37/50 *blush blush *(amu got a 12, noe got 30 and paras 34) . And she seemed to know who I was. Infact everyone in there seemed to know all of the family.
Things I learned today.
- When you know there is a pretty girl standing in front of you , talking to you go ahead and talk back do NOT attempt to walk away.- Big Mistake
- Blind people are challenged.
- I really do not like keychains.I sure don’t have any nice ones.
- Got to get my camera fixed to capture awesome moments like these.
- Need more adjectives.
